Point to sample elevations from TWO surfaces

Hi guys,
I'm out of options, even Google can't help me with this!
I have two surfaces, Design and Existing; I have set out points along the edge of bitumen and want to show both elevations in a table for easy comparison.
Now elevations from surface can only be applied to show one surface and it doesn’t update automatically. The only work around I have been using is to get existing surface elevations and copy them all into the description and then get elevations from design surface.
Am I doing this wrong, is there an easier way to do set out points?
I know a lot of people are dubious about using set out points but that’s another discussion.
Any ideas?

There may be a way to use Reference Text on the labels of the Points to achieve this.
I'll ask sommeone to look into this.
cheers,

Hi,
Please don't get me started on the lack of reporting functionality for surveyors in c3d.
A few options I can think of - none are using the out of the box product -
1. install SINC PAC on a thirty day trial. It will allow you to reference your setout points to the surface and gives you both heights and the height diffrence in the form of a user defined property or table
Like me you will probably end up buying it because C3d is hopeless in terms of cross referencing objects that surveyors might need to spit out reports and alike.
2. Are you using Leica 1200? Our work around for your issue is to have the surface dtm loaded into the instrument. Setout /place the marks onsite using reference line (referencing the dtm for heights). Then have a leica format file created to reduce the data. This then shows both design and existing heights for each point marked.
3. search this issue on the autocad civil 3d discussion group. I think you will find something there.
Regards,
Ben

Hi
Just thought of another way (depending on your c3d version). Copy your setout points to another layer and put those points into a point group on their own. Then select those copied points only right click and select "elevations from surface". You now have two sets of points with the elevations you need. Either copy to excel and create table and paste back in or create a new label style with "Design RL" in the label.
Cheers
