Dimension Issue

As a standard practice we like to move our dimension text away from our witness lines for any dimension less than 350mm.
Is there any way to get rid of that stupid elastic string that attaches itself to the dimension line and dimension text.
I understand that you can have opaque backgrounds to the text to hide the offending witness lines, but in a string of dimensions that are close together, it is still necessary to move the text to clarify the drawings. That elastic string is very annoying and ugly.

If you are refering to removing the leader line that attahes itself to the dimension text when you drag this text away from default reference, then this is a simple process of de-selecting the tick box located in the options bar (top of screen) "Leader". This will remove the line and allow you to place the dimension text where you wish without conjestion of leader lines.
The leader option is a default which is set to on automatically, select the dimension line and then untick box. This controls each dimension line instance, not entire type.
Happy Dimensioning.
